League Modifications

All Players must reside in Florham Park pursuant to Little League Rules.

Age Requirements For Each League

Clinic ? 6 years old by April 30 or in kindergarten

T-Ball ? 7 years old by April 30 or in 1st grade or played Clinic

Coach Pitch ? 8 years old by April 30 or in 2nd grade or played T-Ball

Minor League ? 9 years old by April 30 or played one year in Coach Pitch.  10 years old by April 30.  This league may also include some 11 year olds (see Major League).

In 2006, Florham Park Baseball Club will institute a draft for 10 year olds only. What this means is that a number of 10 year olds could be drafted up to play on a Major League (11-12) team rather than a Minor League (9-10) team. This will accomplish the following:  The Major League will expand.  These 10 year olds will play with more experienced players in a league more suited to their ability.  This competition can only make them better players.  This selection will be based solely on a player?s performance in the prior regular season.  The league that a player is drafted for will be final.  Keep in mind that the vast majority of Little League Clubs use the draft system.  We are confident that this system will benefit both the players and the club.

Major League ? 11 or 12 years old by April 30.  This League may include a number of 10 year olds (see Minor League). 11 year olds who have not developed the skills to compete at this level may stay in the Minor League for an additional year.   This Board encourages any player who completed his 2nd year in the Major League in 2005 to move to the Junior League even though his league age may still be 12 years old.

Junior League ? 13 or 14 years old by April 30.  This league may also include some 12 year olds (see Major League).

Coaching Certification Required

Attention Potential Coaches and Assistant Coaches

The Florham Park Recreation Department has switched its coach's certification from N.Y.S.C.A. to Rutgers.  As part of our Chartered Club Agreement with the Borough of Florham Park, we are required to certify all of our coaches through this program.  This is a 3-hour course designed to train all head coaches, assistant coaches, and anyone who might help out with the athletes on the field.  If a coach has already taken this course, they are exempt; however, they will have to show their card.

This certification course is NOT sports specific; in other words, once you have taken the course, you are certified for any sport.  Also, there is a one-time $25.50 charge for this class.  Individuals interested in coaching baseball must become certified before they are permitted to get involved.  Please call the Florham Park Recreation Department to register - 973-410-5390.
